The Lord's Prayer

It's the 4th day of school, and i m really thankful that God made it possible for me to attend it! It's has been a great time hearing, learning and applying the Word of God. We went through the Lord's Prayer yesterday and I practice it this morning, and Yes it is actually very easy to pray for an hour with the Lord's Prayer. Easy?? Yes! very!

The Lord's Prayer (Matthew 6:9)

Jesus gave us a model prayer. This is just a skeleton, we have to give it flesh.

"Our Father in Heaven, hallowed be your name"

1. Praise: I give God my love
10 mins

"Hallowed" means to be "sanctified or set apart; to be praised; to be adored." We are to set apart praise, and adore the name of God. We begin our prayer time by praising the name of the Lord.

There are 8 names compounded with the name Jehovah in the Old Testament. These names reveal the wonder and glory of God's divine character and relationships with His children.

Name & Meaning

Jehovah Tsidkenu -> "God is my Righteousness" (Jer. 23:6)

Jehovah M'kaddesh -> "God is my Sanctification" (Lev. 20:8)

Jehovah Shalom -> "God is my Peace" (Judg. 6:24)

Jehovah Shammah -> "God is Present with me" (Ezek. 48:35)

Jehovah Rapha -> "God is my Healer" (Ex. 15:26)

Jehovah Jireh -> "God is my Provider" (Gen. 22:14)

Jehovah Nissi -> "God is my Banner" (Ex. 17:15)

Jehovah Rohi -> "God is my Shepherd" (Ps. 23:1)

"your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven."

2. Purpose: I give God my life
20 mins

God has a will for your life. Success is knowing the will of God and getting right in the center of it.

Pray that God's kingdom will be established in 4 major areas:

a. Yourself
b. Your Family
c. Your Church: Pastors, leadership, faithfulness of the people, harvest of souls.
d. Your Nation: City, national political leaders (1 Tim. 2)

"Give us today our daily bread."
3. Provision: I give God my worries.
10 mins

Bread represents the necessities of life. They are your physical needs and your material needs. God want you to pray instead of worry. Learn to pray until you feel your burden is lifted up by the Lord. And once you have finished praying, don't worry about them anymore.

Phil 4:19
Phil 4:6-7

The word "everything", means to be specific in your prayers. You can talk to God about anything and everything. Nothing is too great for God's power and nothing is too insignificant for His care.

Pray to God for diligent, balanced work habits. We are to earn our living with our own hands and command the respect of the "outside world." Be the salt of the earth and the light of the world.

1 Thess. 4:11-12

"Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors."

4. Pardon: I give God my hurts

10 mins

a. Ask God to forgive you.

1 John 1:9

b. Tell God who you want to forgive

Matt 6:14-15

Make a choice to forgive and release those who have hurt you.

c. Ask God to give you a right attitude toward others. -> even in the presence of your offenders

We need to have a right attitude all the time, even in the presence of your offenders. Each of us has been sinned against, lied about, used, and abused. The key to a right attitude is preparation. Don't wait until you are in the heat of emotional conflict to decide how you will react. Make a decision to live in the spirit of forgiveness through praying this segment.

"And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from the evil one."

5. Protection: I give God my fears and temptations

5 mins

Believers face a spiritual battle everyday. Satan wants to defeat you through temptation and fear. By praying for protection, you will have the confidence to face every situation during the day. Putting on the whole armor of God is the application of Jesus in our daily lives.

Armor & Declaration

Waist girded with truth -> Jesus is my truth (John 14:6)

Breastplate of righteousness -> Jesus is my righteousness (2 Cor. 5:21)

Shoes of peace -> Jesus is my Peace (2 Thess. 3:16)

Shield of faith -> Jesus is my faith (Gal. 2:20)

Helmet of Salvation -> Jesus is my Salvation (Heb. 5:9)

Sword of the Spirit -> Jesus is my living Word (John 1:14)

Ask God to surround you with protection, don't take this for granted!

6. Partnership: I give God my sacrifice of praise.

5 mins

The model prayer Jesus gave us opens and closes with praise. As we study the Bible, we will realize that God our Father has lovingly invited us to be participants in His kingdom, His power, and His glory.

a. Praise Him that His Kingdom is yours.

Luke 12:32

b. Praise Him that His power is now available to you.

Is. 40:29
Eph. 3:14-19

c. Praise Him that He has called you into His glory.

1 Thess, 2:11-12

Hope this helps u in your daily prayer. Please be doers of God's Word. No point knowing it and not doing. God bless!
